Suffering with damp in your house?

How do you avoid and reduce damp in your home?

Damp can be a very costly problem to resolve, and it is a major health risk especially for children.

So, what can you do to ensure you don’t have it in your home?

Here are some things to consider, damp is more of an issue in older houses so if your house was built in the early 1900’s you really do need to be careful. However, this is also the case for properties built up to the 70`s and 80`s, but with addition of cavities, these alleviated issues seen in old houses, then additional issues were introduced, cavity fill and double glazing which brought new issues with restricted air flow.

By following a few simple guidelines, damp will diminish.

·       Air your home regularly.

 ·       Heat every room in your house and keep your house warm. Damp likes the cold.

 ·       If you get condensation on your windows, wipe it away every morning.

 ·       Get extractor fans in your kitchen and bathroom to eliminate steam.

 ·       Open a window when cooking and showering, this will reduce moisture build up in the room.

 ·       Make sure your home is insulated, this will help with reducing condensation.

 ·       Don’t dry clothes inside, or if you have to open a window or buy a dehumidifier.

 ·       Ensure gutters and windowsill drip grooves are cleaned regularly and not blocked.

If you see signs of dampness, call a professional immediately, don’t leave it to get worse.

New Kitchen in Camberley

Neil did a refit of our kitchen, a family member was getting rid of a kitchen and he came round set a plan and then began the refit. Neil is straight talking and although we disagreed on some things it’s because he actually cares and is proud of his work. Neil you are a master craftsman and you have done a truly outstanding job of our kitchen and we are very grateful. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough, it’s very rare to get a tradesman who takes so much pride in their work.
